I recently left the University of Queensland to start in a new position at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, at the Australian National University, Canberra. For the next few months I’ll be working under the supervision of Dr. Phil Gibbons, who will also be one of my supervisors for the PhD I’ll be starting next year.
Phil and I are working on a project (along with Andrew Macintosh from the College of Law) that aims to determine what impact regulation has had on the historical clearing of vegetation in Australia. In particular, we’re interested to know whether policies which included requirements to obtain vegetation offsets as part of clearing permits had any significant impact on clearing, as opposed to policies which didn’t.
It’s going to be a challenging analysis, but one that I’m very excited to be a part of, so watch this space.
